Model 1858 Dress Army Hat (Hardee Hat) fully dressed Infantry version pictured. Adopted by the U.S. Army in 1858 and made famous by the Iron Brigade. The hat is made of quality wool felt and come with leather sweatband, hat ribbon, pasteboard insert in the top and two rows of stitching. The brim is pinned up on the left for Infantry and on the right for Cavalry and Artillery. The only difference between this hat and the other Hardee hat this one has a commercial sweat band sewn in at the manufacturer. Hat is sold plain with one side pinned up, a complete dress hat set sold separately, it includes branch of service insignia, Hardee hat eagle device, ostrich plume and enlisted hat cord.
